If you missed the Retro Futura tour this summer, starring Howard Jones, Midge Ure, and Katrina from Katrina and the Waves, I only have one thing to say to you: You screwed up. Big time. This lineup will set the bar impossibly high for '80s tours in the future.
Katrina Leskanich opened the show and immediately showed the audience two things. First, her voice is still as strong (stronger maybe) than it was in the '80s. And second, and most important: 'Walking on Sunshine' is to Katrina as 'Melt With You' is to Modern English -- a hit, but hardly a good representation of what the band is all about. And I mean that in the best of all ways. Her music is definitely more thoughtful that than bubble-gum hit. And I'm looking forward to hearing more of what she has to offer.
