New art in Downtown

The Glen Cove Downtown BID is super excited about the art that is falling in Glen Cove from the skies. It is said that an anonymous donor has donated these wonderful pieces of art. We first noticed them in front of the library, and then in a walkway, but they are said to be all over Glen Cove now. Can you find them all?

Halloween Parade and Festival Saturday October 26th, 2019

The Streets of Downtown Glen Cove were filled with assortments of heroes and villains on Saturday, October 26th for the Annual Glen Cove Downtown Business Improvement District Halloween Parade and Festival.  As the clock struck 1:00pm the marchers banded together to parade through the streets of Downtown Glen Cove, with a scary vintage Mercedes, a witch on stilts, Maleficent and Glen Cove’s Mayor Tenke leading the way.

Children were slipping and sliding, climbing and bouncing all over the bouncy house castles set up on Bridge Street, while thrilling music was blaring through the DJ’s speakers.  The Jack o’ Lantern Hole in One Mini Golf & the Witches Broom Race captured everyone’s attention which resulted in 100’s of prizes being won.  The children were also provided with an unlimited supply of cotton candy by Glenn and Kathy Paganetti of Primerica to enjoy throughout the entire Halloween Parade and festivities, had a chance to learn some juggling skills and danced through the streets.

This year’s Costume Contest saw a lot of creativity, and after a tough deliberation, the top first place winners included:  “Minions” Paul Jr. & Victoria Megarian, “Transformer” Declan Sullivan, “The Joker” Logan Blackborn, “A Ship” Logan Blum, “Scary Clown” Joshua Kunzel. Second Place winners included: “Jasmine” Aviva Waller, “Dorothy” Annabelle Salecchia, “Maleficent” Kerissa Salvador, “Zombie” Liam Acosta Cobb and Jack McCormack as a Scary Skelton. The Glen Cove Downtown BID would like to thank Lauren from Petsmart, Matilde from the Max Challenge, Emma and Miranda from The Avalon and Jacki, Ava and Lauren from the Compassion to Action Volunteer Group for their services as Judges.

To top it all off there was a Pie Eating contest with seven delicious apple pies that were devoured quickly, but not as quick as first place winner Aurora Seery who cleaned her plate in 60 seconds with assistance from her hands.

“ It is always brings such joy to the members of the Glen Cove Downtown B.I.D. to see such happy faces on the children of our community” , said Patricia Holman, Executive Director of the Glen Cove Downtown B.I.D.   The Glen Cove Downtown BID would like to Mayor Tenke, The City Council, Auxiliary Police, Department of Public Works, the Fire Department, EMS, Ava, Jackie, Samantha and Lauren from the Compassion to Action Volunteer Group, Our friend’s Spiro and Ally for lending and driving the car in the parade and most importantly our sponsors: American Paving and Masonry , The Max Challenge, Petsmart, The Avalon, Primerica,  Glen Floors , The Regency and AMC Glen Cove 6
