Glen Cove Celebrates Senior Recognition Day 2015
 
On Saturday, May 9, 2015 the City of Glen Cove will hold its 9th Annual Senior Recognition Day to celebrate all seniors in our community and honor our Centenarians (age 100 and older).  All are invited to join our senior citizens, their families, and friends for this special celebration in downtown Village Square from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. (In case of rain, the event will be held at the Senior Center located at 130 Glen Street.)  The day’s events are “Free to all” and will include...

Website ranks city twelfth safest in U.S.

Your chances of being the victim of a crime in Glen Cove are less than in most other cities in the country, according to a recent report.

The website NeighborhoodScout released its list of the Top 100 Safest Cities in the U.S. for cities with populations of more than 25,000 people. Glen Cove ranked 12, one spot higher than Greenwich, Conn. and one behind Sammamish, Wash.

Senior Recognition Day is sponsored by the City of Glen Cove, the Glen Cove Senior Center, the Downtown BID, NSLIJ at Glen Cove, and the City’s assisted living and nursing care facilities: Atria Senior Living Glen Cove, The Regency at Glen Cove, Glengariff Health Care Center, The Glen Cove Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, The Marquis, and Sunrise Senior Living at Glen Cove.

  This year, in honor of Senior Day’s 9th Annual celebration, the Senior Day Committee is proud to honor Irma Berkley with the prestigious “Lifetime Service Award” for her extraordinary contributions over the years. In addition, the 2015 Honorees of the Award for Service and Dedication to the Senior Community are our senior Rose Shoppe ladies: Dorothy Conlin, Rose Marangiello, Evelyn Mercadante, Alice Savinetti, Carmen Katsikas, Jean Visslailli, and Anna Ancona
