Free AARP Tax Assistance
Wednesdays through April 10
This service is available to all individuals of all ages. Patrons must make an appointment for tax help; please call (516) 676-2130 or stop by the information desk. Please be sure to bring your tax package, a copy of your 2017 tax return and all other information that might be helpful for tax preparation.

Meet The Author
Rachel Lyon, author of Self-Portrait with Boy, will be at the Glen Cove Public Library at 2 p.m.

Self-Portrait with Boy is set in Brooklyn in the early 1990s and tells the story of a young photographer who unintentionally captures a tragedy during a self-portrait. The choice of what to do with this devastating image haunts her as she is forced to confront the limits of her own ambition.

Horticulturist Paul Levine (Paul the Plant Man) will be at The Glen Cove Public Library to teach you about the flowers and vegetables that are best for the early spring garden. Paul will also raffle off plants at the end of his program. 11 a.m.

Budget Vote and Trustee Election

The Glen Cove Public Library will present its annual budget to the citizens of Glen Cove for a vote on Tuesday, April 30. Polls will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The public will also be asked to vote for one member of the five-member Library Board of Trustees for a five-year term. A hearing on the library budget and a chance to meet the trustee candidates will be held in the History Room on Tuesday, April 16 at 7 p.m.

Celebrated Post cereal heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post was well documented for her glamorous lifestyle.  However, Post was an astute business woman and generous humanitarian. Historian Kenneth G. Mensing uses Post family private photos and archives to reveal a pioneering woman. Refreshments served. $10. At North Shore Historical Museum, 140 Glen St., 2 p.m.

 

BID Board Meeting

The Glen Cove Downtown Business Improvement District's monthly meeting will take place on Thursday, April 4, 2019, at 12 p.m. at La Famiglia. Cost for lunch (optional) is $12. RSVP required.
